The year started out with Allan Goldberg's Action Martial Art Magazine Extravaganza at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. Michael DePasquale was there to not only MC the event and do his ongoing Seminar Series, but he was also involved in the IBRF Save a Soldier Project, which was a major sponsor of the event this year.
The staff of the IBRF was down there working on getting schools to do fundraising for the fantastic work they are doing getting our soldiers out of comas who are coming back from war with severe disorder of consciousness.
Soke Shows up For Test
Michael DePasquale Jr was at student Shawn Flanagan's Dojo testing one of
Shawn's students for black belt. Soke tested several lower ranks for their
belts as well and also performed a seminar.
The following day, Terry Dow's annual symposium took place. It was held in Manchester, Rhode Island with Bill Wallace, Bruce Jutnick, and many other fantastic instructors, such as Brent Crisi, Grandmaster Ho, Bernie Lau, and several others.

Testing at the Dojo
We have had some tests at the Yoshitsune Dojo recently. Here are some pictures of some of the tests that took place, including those of two students who went for their Ikkyu and Nikkyu brown belts, Robinson Rodriguez and John Shari.

Tom Renner's Kazan Dojo
Once again, Soke Michael DePasquale Jr was at one of his favorite Long
Island Ju Jitsu schools, Tom Renner's Kazan Dojo in April 2011. Michael had
fun teaching the traditional and combat Yoshitsune Ju Jitsu system to the
adults and taught Ju Jitsu and fighting and falling for film to the
children.
The International Brain Research Foundation recently gave Michael DePasquale
Jr a plaque which states, "In recognition of your outstanding support,
dedication, and generosity." It was presented at the Fifth Annual Gala at
the Museum of Natural History. Some of the notables that were there were the
Fisher family (who the Fisher house was named after), Chase Bank, Hudson
Clean energy, Goldman Sachs, and special guest singer Tony Orlando.
Save A Soldier Project & New Neuroscience Center
Michael DePasquale Jr is responsible for putting the Save a Soldier project
together and had a hand in putting the Neuroscience Center together at the
Meadowlands Hospital. Dr. Phil DeFina is working alongside of Dr. Lipsky,
part owner and chief officer of Meadowlands hospital.
Michael DePasquale was recently in Puerto Rico teaching with some of his
IFOJJ and Yoshitsune reps. Joe Miller and Jesus Bonilla. Also there was FUMA
representative Willy Hernandez, Harris Warren, and historian and renowned
karateka Allan Woodman. The IBRF Save a Soldier Project was also there with
everybody in support. Jesus Bonilla did a great job as a host .
Congratulations Jesus!

More books from MDP
Michael DePasquale Jr is in the process of writing several books with Allan Woodman. Notably, a book on his father, Michael DePasquale Sr.
Soke Judges MMA Event
Soke Michael DePasquale Jr returned to judging this past month at the Cage
Fury Event at the Resorts Hotel in Atlantic City. Nick Limbo from the
Athletic Commission was happy to see Michael's return to judging. Here is a
quote from an online magazine covering the event, "It was another solid
night of action with some closely contested fights. There was even a bit of
judging history last night as legendary MMA judge and martial artist,
Michael DePasquale was on hand to score the fights. DePasquale has judged MMA contests from way back in the early
days of the UFC. It was certainly good to have a legend on hand last
night." Michael was truly flattered by the comment.
